This Weekend Tembé entered a fearsome team of cyclists into the annual Sika Cycle event.
Matt Allen, Vince Rodgers and Kevin Heath decked out in their smart Hippo sponsored cycle gear arrived in high spirits at the Ashridge Executive Education Centre for the event held in aid of Keech Hospice care.
Starting from their beautiful estate base near Berkhampstead in Hertfordshire the team commented that they possibly underestimated the challenge after working out that they had a combined age of 173 which was quite alarming!!!
The route was a gruelling 100 miles through the Chiltern Hills presenting a tough mental challenge as well as physical one. Huge pot holes caused by the recent bad weather, steep hills, a puncture at 40 miles just as it started to rain and numerous wrong turns adding at least 5 miles to the course all had to be overcome!
But they persevered to complete the course and earn a well deserved drink at the bar. Commenting afterwards Kev said that it was one of the best organised events he’s been on and will hold great memories for a long time. The food, hospitality and venue was all amazing with great support from the Sika team out on the course.
